Stephanie McAtee, LCPC

Owner, Psychotherapist / Approved Supervisor

Whether you are working through a traumatic event or navigating through daily or periodic anxiety and depression, it takes an enormous amount of strength and courage to reach out for help and engage in the therapy process. I have a huge amount of respect for those who take this step, and feel privileged to be a part of whatever path you choose throughout your personal journey.

I received both my Master's Degree and Post-Master's Certificate in Clinical Counseling from Johns Hopkins University.  I am currently licensed as a LCPC in the State of Maryland and hold my Supervisor's Certification, which permits me to provide supervision to Master's level students and professionals new to the field in order to assist in providing the highest level of clinical care.

I have been working in the mental health field for almost 20 years and have been in private practice for over 10 years. Throughout my career, I have made intentional choices in employment that have allowed me to engage in direct-care in a wide range of environments from the inner-city to rural counties.  My work has led me in many directions, all of which have allowed me to shape my professional skills in order to provide the most genuine and effective use of a multitude of modalities of treatment.  I have worked with specific-trauma populations in an immersed environment, and have been fortunate in my work to be a part of their journey from victim to survivor.  I have worked with populations exiting prison systems and juvenile detention facilities in order to provide the layers of services needed in order to successfully and healthily forge a productive future.

My personal philosophy is that the personality fit is just as important as clinical experience is. I believe that the therapeutic partnership is essential for success, and tailor sessions to best fit what is needed at that time. Therapy is a fluid process; having this principle as the foundation is essential for healing.
